A philological study on poisoning and side effects of Houttuyniae Herba

Abstract

|
Houttuyniae Herba is in use in the Korean medicine. The Korean medical doctors use Houttuyniae Herba for clearing away heat and eliminating toxin(淸熱解毒), etc. We investigated toxicity, poisoning symptoms, side effects, poisoning treatment and prevention against poisoning of Houttuyniae Herba. The results were summarized as follows： 1. The main ingredients of poisoning are decanoylacetaldehyde, etc. The ingredients of poisoning from Houttuyniae Herba mainly can cause stimulating symptoms on digestive system, etc and cause solar dermatisis. 2. The representative methods of poisoning treatment are taking antiallergic agent and symptomatic treatment, etc. 3. In order to prevent against poisoning of Houttuyniae Herba, the patients should keep usage, dosage and notes. And the medical doctor has to examine medical histories of hypersensitive reaction.
